Tomorrow marks the 20th Anniversary for the WNBA. I had the pleasure of listening to Maya Moore and her Coach Cheryl Reeve speak about the most anticipated game of the season.
The Minnesota Lynx are facing The Los Angeles Sparks, both teams are undefeated with 10 or more wins, no ties and no losses. No other WNBA, NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL has ever done that! How about that for girl power? If that doesn’t impress you how about her stats, Maya has become the first pro athlete (male or female) to nab three titles, ROY, All-Star MVP and League MVP in only five seasons of play. She also is representing the elite Jordan Brand. Michelle Beadle with ESPN.com asked Ms. Moore about her perspective on how strong she is defensively. Maya stated that she has never been on a team where she’s so confident with the experience and tenacity to elevate the team to another level. She has an element of trust and excitement. She has stated that she has known since they’ve been here that they can’t be successful without a defense identity.
Coach Cheryl added, “When you have your best player committed to the understanding on how we won games, they don’t have the mindset of just out scoring people. That has been a huge part of her identity that hasn’t been noticed.”
Tune into tomorrow’s historic game beginning at 12:30 PM PCT and 3:30 PM on TWC SN, TWC D and on NBATV
