It is a once a month event that combines drinking your favorite cocktail or caffeinated beverage and local Chicago entrepreneurs in one space.
They came up with this idea to promote positivity by promoting collaboration over competition. They understand the struggles brands and bloggers have getting their voice heard in the same social circle harmoniously. I attended their launch party on March 3rd, held at Lokal Chicago.
That is the magic of this event, you are able to purchase and mingle and get to know new people. It is a refreshing experience that when you wake up, this is one hangover you want to hang onto! You do not want to miss out on the next event. Make sure you add yourself to this list!
As the kids say these days TBH. Well, here’s my to be honest moment. I love being a Mom, I truly do. This isn’t the generic, “being a Mom is great” and secretly hate it. I feel that my children have made me better and I am more secure with myself .
Being a Mom is hard. I juggle between being a referee, “George don’t hit your big brother.” To a nurse, “hold still while we disinfect and add a band aid”. To being a Mom, ” I love you so much!”. It’s not easy and it is tiring but I wouldn’t trade it. My oldest is 4 he has great manners, very caring and funny. Everyone loves being around him. This only makes his stubborn streaks harder to handle.
My husband and I discussed daily what is the best way to handle these moments. We were becoming exhausted with solutions. I’ve done the time out where we wait for the timer to go off and you are out of time out. I have tried he “sit on the step until the timer goes out.” I have had the “go to your room until the timer goes out” they worked but it was like he had amnesia the next time we’d be at it again.
I had a play date at Thomas’s friends house when I noticed a Mickey Chart on her fridge. I asked her about it and what do you know, she’s having the same issue with her 4 year old. She told me about her chart and how it’s working for her and her husband. I thought it was a sign from Walt Disney himself.
Thomas was excited about having this chart, partially because it was Mickey and the other part was he knew seeing green meant good things. I have to say this chart works! Thomas can tell you what the colors mean, green is great, orange is danger you’re close to red, and red is not good and we get a timeout. When he’s green he gets a “special treat.” That could be anything from, watching a show before bed, getting a junk food snack before the healthy choice, sometimes we might go out to eat. It’s even helped pump him up for the day. We always wake up green and I remind him to stay green today. He even takes accountability and when I pick him up from daycare he will tell me what day he had today. Im not a certified Dr. but this method is what has worked for us.
Hello, my name is Tanya and I am a LulaRoe addict. LulaRoe is a network based clothing line. Meaning it is not found in stores, but through a representative.
LulaRoe is so soft and it is smooth like butter! Remember the feeling of putting on a pair of your sweats ion with a fresh shaved leg? Feels so soft and smooth like butter right? That is how you will feel when you wear their clothing.
Here are a few things to know about LulaRoe:
Their leggings come in two sizes One size (fits 0-12) & Tall and curvy (fits 12-24)
They make their patterns limited meaning grab it if you see it, chances are they didn’t make an abundance of them. It also helps the “who wore it best?” with your bestie.
there is not a catalog where you can order from
your representative will not know what will be in their shipment.
They also make skirts, shirts, shawls and dresses. The price point is $25.00 and higher.
Another fun note, on Facebook there are a lot of Facebook groups where you can find LulaRoe “pop up shops”. If you’d like to start shopping, I recommend Amanda Marshall! She will get you get you roeing!
You have dreams about the day you get to wear that special ring on your left hand. You finally have your dreams come true, but you are gardening, fishing, and cleaning dishes. You are doing anything with your hands that could possibly jeopardize your wonderful expensive piece of jewelry. What are you to do? If you are like me; I take mine off constantly and place them in a safe place to prevent me from losing them. Once the job is completed, I would sometimes forget to put it back on, and go out in public without my pride and joy (my wedding jewelry). I would get so mad because I had to remove it to do a project, and got distracted and kept going about the day.
One day I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and an ad popped up for QALO(pronounced KAY-LOW) rings and decided to click on their page and learn about their product.
Let me give you the top three things you should know:
1. It is made from silicone- This means it can take a beating!
2. They have amazing colors and designs for Women and Men.
3. They are inexpensive- you can find one as cheap as $15.95 to $24.95
I have the Desert Rose QALO ring, and have been sporting it for one week, my Husband has the Cerulean Blue and we are in LOVE! The colors are fantastic, the ring is super comfortable and I feel proud wearing it. My only advice for the ladies is getting it a ½ size bigger than your normal ring size. I know that QALO recommends your actual size, but I found mine to be a little snug. My Husband got his ring in his ring size and didn’t have an issue. When you purchase your ring make sure you post on their Facebook page! They love hearing from their clients. I’m currently shopping for a new color and a shirt because I love them that much!
I recently had the had the pleasure of attending Tickled Pink for Bright Pink event, which was held at Morgan Manufacturing .
Tickled Pink is in honor of the founder Jodi Fyfe’s cousin, Carrie Kenney, who lost her battle to breast cancer at the age of 55. Throwing a fun event was the best way for Jodi to keep her cousin’s spirit alive. It is one of the hottest parties for a great cause and this year they were celebrating 12 years.
All participants share the common goal of raising breast cancer and ovarian cancer awareness.Throughout the event there were silent auctions, raffles, and firefighters walking around giving out beads for a donation. All the proceeds benefit Bright Pink, the only national non-profit organization focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer.
All attendees and participants were dressed to impress in their formal attire and made sure to show respect by wearing pink. There was food showcased from restaurants and bakeries in the Chicagoland area. The entertainment was fantastic, including drag queens and a live band. Jodi made sure the night was successful and that Carrie’s legacy lived on.
Here is how to do a breast self- exam from nationalbreastcancer.org:
1) In the Shower
Using the pads of your fingers, move around your entire breast in a circular pattern moving from the outside to the center, checking the entire breast and armpit area. Check both breasts each month feeling for any lump, thickening, or hardened knot. Notice any changes and get lumps evaluated by your healthcare provider.
2) In Front of a Mirror
Visually inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides. Next, raise your arms high overhead.
Look for any changes in the contour, any swelling, or dimpling of the skin, or changes in the nipples. Next, rest your palms on your hips and press firmly to flex your chest muscles. Left and right breasts will not exactly match—few women’s breasts do, so look for any dimpling, puckering, or changes, particularly on one side.
3) Lying Down
When lying down, the breast tissue spreads out evenly along the chest wall. Place a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head. Using your left hand, move the pads of your fingers around your right breast gently in small circular motions covering the entire breast area and armpit. Use light, medium, and firm pressure. Squeeze the nipple; check for discharge and lumps. Repeat these steps for your left breast.
I was recently given a mission by Agent Eyelash to meet at the newest SafeHouse located in Chicago. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two agents in a main room. They did not believe we were sent by a fellow agent. They asked us for a password, that we did not have. Instead of granting us passage, we had to stand along the wall and do a hula dance to allow entry.
After the agent was satisfied with our performance, a hidden door slid open and we followed the stairs down to the bottom. Once we arrived on the floor we were greeted with applause as we officially entered the safe house. Here another agent checked us in and gave us a list of missions that we could complete while we waited for our table to be ready. Do these missions! They’ll allow you to explore SafeHouse in it’s entirety.
Agent Lost Girl was assigned to our table to make sure all our needs were met and gave us our “dossier,” a.k.a the menu. We started with their crafty concoction Spies Demise. It was a delicious martini and a great start to our meal. Our appetizer (Nachos Camp Stanley), was aso delicious. It was made with fresh hand made tortilla chips, loaded with their secret housemade cheese sauce with cheddar, pepper jack and american cheese. You may also add beef or chicken. My entrée, Mata Hari’s Meatloaf, was one of their many items made from scratch. We decided to conclude our meal with Fat Bastard, a brownie ice cream sundae with a sparkler.
Safehouse Chicago does not want a lot information leaked to the public. They want to ensure you have a wonderful experience. As an enlisted agent, I do have to follow orders the boss has set. I cannot give you the location either. I do believe you are a well skilled agent and will be able to find the SafeHouse Chicago. You never know, I may be those eyes you see moving behind the frame.
Notes found on Agent Tanya’s napkin:
Come hungry, the portions are a fair size
Fun in numbers, bring as many friends/family as you can
Drinking water can be a struggle. Some people find it challenging to drink 8 ounces in one day, when in reality we should be drinking more. One day I was researching about tricks on how to drink more water when I stumbled upon The Right Cup.
“The Right Cup is the first ever fruit flavor cup that leads your brain to believe the plain water you are drinking is flavored. Trick your brain, drink more water.”-The Right Cup
The Right Cup is a perfect solution to get your daily water intake. It tricks your body into thinking you are drinking something other than water, just by smell. After a week of trying it, I have found it really works. I have truly found “the right cup”.
Here are a few tips:
The scent is very strong and can be a little intimidating at first.I would suggest to give it a day to let it air out and the scent will decipate.
Let the water sit in the cup for some time in order for it to take affect. Pouring the water into the cup and drinking right away really does nothing.
The Right Cup comes in several flavors: mixed berry, orange, apple, peach and coming soon cola
